Song: "I Feel Cream" This album has Peaches singing on it. I know, you may think that Peaches, being a vocalist, would be a singer as well... Not so much. She mostly raps and sing-talks. This album features some actual, proper, traditional feminine singing. I have to say I'm surprised by the difference in her singing voice. ... Range much? Valley girl speak aside, this song is very much a space out dance song and completely inappropriate after the last ten posts even though I think [good] dance-electronic music and stoner rockdoompsych are cousins. Not a popular opinion, but hey, fuck you, I'm awesome.

Song: "Trust" This is dedicated to you-know-who because, holy shit, it's your birthday. I could never forget your birthday... After all, you're the best trustin' I ever had. Har har. I know. In any case, you're better than Megadeth is even on their best day under ideal circumstances, which probably doesn't say a whole lot... but all the same, keep being great. <3

Just for the sake of repetition, here's a list or five*. Albums I have been loving lately: - Sepultura - A-Lex. Albums I like/love to a point but still need to work on: - Big Business - Mind The Drift Semi-recent albums/bands I'm still really liking: - Red Fang - Red Fang, Red Fang, and maybe they have another release called Red Fang Shit I've been trying to work on but failing so far: - Combichrist's new one. Bands I'm ready to release new shit already: - Ancient Age. Are you done recording? * Not complete. Song: "We're From America" If you're familiar with Marilyn Manson, the lyrics of this song aren't going to be too surprising or new to you. If you liked him before, even years ago but you tuned out, you'll like this now. Musically, I think this single has improved over the last album by far. It seems more like something from the last decade in feeling. It has a nice hyper danceable beat that seems pretty radio/consumer-friendly despite the lyrics, so I imagine that if you skip listening to this now, you're going to end up hearing it anyway...

Song: "Show Stopper" This song is going to contribute heavily to my early hearing loss. Bass, bass is great, we love bass. Sped up, slowed down, upright, electric, monitor-throwing, whatever... It is good.

Song: "Dreamless Eye" I was dreaming about watching a band end its set abruptly for another band to come out and play. I was confused as to why there were no instruments on stage in either case. I next remembered what venue I was in and my major and most recent thoughts about said venue. The detail of this thought woke me up just enough to find that inebriated sort of state of mind where many ideas are exciting but they're not exactly realistic. That place where people who are not appreciated in any real way are told that they are loved, the place where one reflects on in therapy but still comes up with a childlike "I 'unno", the place where one ends up having "polite conversation" with such nice police officers who are so kind to let this clear mismanagement of thought slide. "It seemed like a good idea at the time." I was about ready to get up and conquer life with renewed appreciation... And then I looked at the clock, felt hunger and yesterday's makeup built up in the corner of my eyes, and a slight headache trying to turn my brain into a dry sponge as a means of revolting from my lack of caffeine... and it was over. I think if I spent nine minutes yelling and burning the upper layers of skin off my body with the tone of this song, I could soon afford some rest.

Song: "Razoreater" Here's another band I'm late on. Oddly, I've had this downloaded for months if not as much as a year and only recently checked them out because of their Roadburn videos. I still need to get through their work, but this song is pretty outstanding on its own. The song on their myspace is chopped so you only hear the second half, so even though you'll get not-so-great sound on youtube, be sure to check out that video or last.fm's quality version. I think it can be easily deducted that if you are displeased with recent Isis, you will enjoy this. Not that that's a proper comparison... but I never liked Isis that much because I require more heaviness and immediacy, and Amenra certainly seems like a logical step between what Isis does and what sludge should actually sound like to be called sludge.

Song: "Combat Love" Dave Wyndorf. That, alone, should say enough to you. If not, we have a serious problem and I think you know what to do to correct it. I have a hard time believing this song is 30 years old. It seems rather fresh. If any of you have any other Shrapnel, send it my way.

Song: "Schism" To my webserver: I get a large portion of my hits before noon because many come from the other side of the world. The fact that you were down for hours early this morning was not amusing. What were you trying to do, prove the existence of mercury retrograde at me or something? Too late. In any case, I hope you achieved your necessary level of whatever-the-hell and had a nice nap. I remember where I was when I heard this song for the first time. I was sitting at my desk against the wall in the living room, with the recorder on my desk waiting for the radio station to play the new Tool single like they promised. It began, I pressed record on time, and I wandered off while it recorded because I didn't know what to think yet. I would play it back afterward and see how I felt after a few listens. After the song recorded, I rewound the tape and pushed play to check where I was on the tape. I blinked because I didn't hear anything, then said "AW, SHIT"... because I'd just recorded over the song. Instead of "play", I'd pushed "record". It was so funny to me that I made an mp3 of me accidentally recording over it to share with a friend. I got up early for nothing but comic relief that day. Like every day, I know.

Song: "Revolution" It's weird b-sides and comps night. This song is pretty cool - fans of Tool are going to like it. I think Melvins fans will like it, too, since it has a familiar feel to something they'd have done years ago. I could do with out the "you can't kill the revolution" vocals from hair boy, but it's otherwise alright. Song: "Calling Dr. Love" This is a cover of Kiss' "Calling Dr Love" by the following: Maynard, Tom Morello, Billy Gould, and Brad Wilk. This sounds like the worst thing ever from its premise, but it's really a good song and a huge improvement over the original.

Song: "Don't Talk To Me (live)" This was on thefade.net and I found a copy of it somewhat recently, but don't see it online anywhere offhand now. I'm sure it's there because of how popular these guys are now. I suppose if you all complain about me making you do work I'll upload the song myself soon. This cover of GG Allin isn't particularly remarkable at first... and then Josh speaks. I have no idea what's going on. I'm not sure anyone does. It's interesting, in any case. Song: "The Chase Is Better Than The Catch" This is definitely not online. I may upload it later. Here's the original by Motorhead in case you don't know/forgot. It's pretty much like Ozzy trying to sing for Motorhead. Song: "The Metro" A friggin' Berlin cover by System of a Down. Yeah. Not even kidding. This song is very lovely in either version, but the best part of the cover is the end: "FUCK. YOU. for loving me." I found this song in about August 2001 and played it every day for months. I've had my fill now, but the memories... so fond. Oh yeah, and assuming any of you out there care... Berlin is on tour. They'll be in Portland July 3rd. Some of the questions are pretty dull, but a lot more gets "answered" or responded to. A local high school put on a concert last night with YOB headlining. a) I wish I were ten years younger, and... because then I would have been able to C a band of relative decency at my high school. All we had at Hickville were Z100-style DJs when there were football games. And being underage with no choices, it was the same sort of thing at "clubs". Plus I was made fun of for my musical choices, even when people had no idea what those were. My high school reunion ought to be interesting (not that social networking sites haven't taken away some of the surprise). Actually, this is all silly because, at this age, a network of musical friends have been created, I can actually talk to various band people myself, I've been quoted by TAD!, I can talk Monster Magnet with one of my favorite band's drummer and his slowly degrading sanity, and I can get into any place I feel like getting into also without having to worry about whether or not my friends like my music so I have a ride to get to shows. Now is actually way better... but yeah. Still jealous of those kids.

This sounds like Pink Floyd's "One Of These Days".

I'm posting this because some of you are just geeky enough to find this funny. This is a typo from Mike Thrasher Presents: Melvins in 1983 (Performing their first record) - May 24th at The Roseland Theater: Click here! And for those of you who are lost... the Melvins discography. Song: "We Ask You To Ride" You're at the mercy of random today, but I've been listening to this a lot in recent history. It sounds very much like teleporting back to 1970 or so, like a bar or party scene in an old movie. Otherwise, it's a very moody, relaxing song.

Song: "Hay" I love dodgy lyrics. "Third Alternative", "Pardon My Freedom", "Prison Sex"... and now some "Hay". Urban dictionary is trying to tell me that "dodgy" is British slang. I'm like, bitch, do I look British to you? ... on the internet? Yes. :( Anyway, I love it that violin and fucking people in mysterious places has been combined, here. PS. Depeche Mode. "Master and Servant"? No, just... the bands. They're similar, given the obvious 30 year musical differences.

Song: "Infancy of a Disaster" Those of you familiar with L7 will be familiar with this name, as Donita was their singer. With her own band, she seems to have wandered a little closer to a more popular rock sound and style, but I wouldn't call this "pop rock" exactly. For one, it's just a little too heavy... and as far as I can tell it isn't about lost loves or one's whore practice. I posted about this right when the video came out, but unfortunately I didn't have Sounds of Sagittarius back then... and apparently we're going back several years from this blog. Here's some things I had to say about Donita Sparks in the past. Brackets indicate current-day editing. August 2006: meanwhile, i had “infancy of a disaster” stuck in my head all day. November 2005: While researching this entry, I found Donita Sparks’ (singer of L7) “[He's Got The] Honey”. It’s kind of L7-style, but obviously different. It doesn’t have as much variation in sound in the song as L7 songs do, but it’s alright. June 2006: … and then i came home and watched donita sparks’ ["Infancy of a Disaster"] video. December 2006: very early this year, i raped the song “infancy of a disaster” off of the internet, which is by donita sparks. she’s supposed to have an album come out here someday(?!) … but it’s just flippin’ grand. it’s meaningless rock garbage, this song. “he’s got the honey” is similar. i like how she/they take a simple idea and just roll with it. i’m waiting on that album… So I waited 2-3 years for this. At this point it seems like old news to me and the songs have worn off to the point that they're no longer striking. However, nobody's talking about it so I'm going to assume you haven't heard this before. Get to it, the entire album is free.

Song: "Racoon City Limits" I went through a bunch of newly downloaded stuff yesterday and tried to quickly find what worked. Mostly this was just obnoxious, but a few things stood out... This song, for one. This song brings back visuals of my growing-up best friend acting like a psycho fucking freak and dancing like a moron. I'm fairly certain if she ever heard this, she would immediately react to it because it's so "her"... just crazy enough not to get kicked out of society. I suppose she left the rest for me.

Song: "Dead Angel" I have not actually listened to Candlemass before yesterday. I suppose that I've heard them being that I've been familiar with their name for years... but yeah. This is another song that immediately stood out. I get a little annoyed with this "epic" lyrical thing because it sounds so often like it's two seconds away from announcing its homosexual requirements for card games and jewelry, but at least the music's good in this case.

Song: "Natural One" I loved the fuck out of this song when I was growing up. The lines "when momma's not around, there's no telling what we'll do when we're free" especially struck me. I've always been a little irritated with the idea of having to be "supervised". I can police myself, and I will. Story time! One time I practically gave an old lady friend of my family a heart attack. She was watching me and my niece for the afternoon when I was about ten, and decided to drive us to visit Kmart. She let us wander the store a little, so I went through the books section to see if they had anything interesting. I was immediately drawn to a book that was "young adult" about vampires. The plot had something to do with a lady vampire who chases some high school guy down, or vice versa. I loved vampires. I loved reading. A book about them sounded great to me. And, looking at the cover price, I had just enough money with me to spend on this book. Now, I didn't want to let this old lady to see the cover of the book. Bottom line is that it was reading material. But yeah, this wasn't exactly Goodnight Moon. Still, I was old enough to handle what the watered down Kmart book selection could throw at me, and it's not too often that you get a ten year old enthused in reading. I assumed that this old lady might be proud to see a little girl happy about words and knowledge. I decided to ask nicely first, just because that's what you're supposed to do. So I found her and asked if it would be alright if I bought anything, like a book. She said no and gave some bullshit reason. But it's really inexpensive and I'll pay for it because I have the money? No. The fuck? I'd never been told NOT to read before. I thought about it, and I decided I was going to have the book. I wandered around the store until we got almost to the counter, then I went in line behind the lady and bought the book as she was moving out of the store with my niece. I'm not sure how she figured it out, but she did after the fact. I was yelled at. She was going to tell my mom on me, tell my mom how bad I was. Yeah, my mom was going to be TOTALLY offended that instead of liquor store candy, I spent $5 on a book. How dare I expand my mind and learn about the world. I was gonna get beat when I got home, and then my mom was going to burn all my damn books as punishment... especially that one about the mouse who ate the cookie. YOU SEE WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU'RE A READER?! YOU'RE GONNA NEED MILK! AND MILK IS THE GOLDEN TICKET TO HELL! [enter flames here] I was astounded at this lady's lack of culture, but I'd dealt with moron adults before. Just shut up and take what they've got and at the first clear exit, run. After Kmart, the lady took us to lunch... and the bitch would not shut up about the book. Her attitude was just ridiculous. I completely lost any minor respect I might have had for her "authority" because she was clearly undeserving. You don't teach kids how to behave by ostracizing them and acting like a cunt. So, of course, the restaurant was so kind to my situation by getting my order wrong. I couldn't eat what I was given... and I really didn't want to say anything to the old cuntbitch. But she saw me not eat and thought I was "acting up" again. She lost it. I imagine the first person she told was my brother in law, in that disgusted, hateful, passive-aggressive fashion that only stingy old people can manage when talking about "the youth these days", when he came to pick my niece and I up. I'm sure he just laughed that I'd pissed off the old lady so much. Nothing happened after we left... despite being a very "interesting" afternoon full of threats and hate. I keep the book on a shelf in my room, even now. Apparently when momma's not around, I read. Oh yeah, and EAT COOKIES!

Song: "Underwolf" When I woke up yesterday this song was first on my list to post, but at this point... exhaustion. It's not quite as effective at 7am. Still, for general space-out music, this works... and of course being surprised by vocals suddenly appearing at over 3 minutes in is fun, too. Especially what he says. Dear Reverse Dotty (and the candy cane shivs), I'm sorry for screwing up your original "similar artists" at last.fm. You really sound nothing like Diesto at all... or Garadama. LOL. And who the fuck else is listening to 57chevy? I thought I was the only one. I CAN NOT AND I WILL NOT... I will not be saved.

Song: "Zero Manifest" Nothing but downloads, you guys. I wish this band would get back together for the five minutes it takes to create an adequate, informative website again. Fuck, I'd host it. Obviously, it would be called Megatsunami! Hm... I may just have to do that this summer. But yeah, this song has been stuck in my head off and on since shortly after I heard it... It has pretty simple, repetitive lyrics... "I can not and I will not" repeated a few times, then "I can/will not be saved". Cuz he's freeeeeeeeyah. And the song itself is that lovely, upbeat stoner rock goodness, sounding a bit like hard stomping on the ground. You want it. Seriously.

Song: "Closure (live)" Cuz you done missed it the first time. While I cannot do more than share an audio recording (over here) or tell a story, there are still some vids for you from other shows. Even still, the timing is a bit off... It doesn't impact quite the same unless buried in other songs and heat and correct sound levels and that extra 2-5 minutes of song. However, I think the song I heard still shines through towards the end when it goes all psych-y waltz in both the recorded album format and the live vids. And I just have to say, this guy has one of the most strikingly sexy speaking voices I've heard, ever. Yep, just said that to a majority male visitorship. You'll deal with it. One of these days I'll make a complete post on this topic just to get it out of the way so I don't start liking bands simply based on the fact that I'm attracted to the singer/guitarist/whatever like every other girl I've met does. Elvis-style male music worship is so backwards. but yeah... I'd totally answer my phone if Mikael called me. Anyhow, listen to the song. It's really, really good. Song: "Angela" If you've been following me a while, you might recognize this song. I'm re-posting it. This is necessary because now there's finally studio-made audio for the sharing. If you like Black Sabbath-induced stoner/doom metal, you need to hear this. I'm not kidding. It'll be the best six and a half minutes of your life since that one time. Ancient Age's album should be out here soon.

This song and a few others are way more energetic than what Russian Circles puts out... apparently because there are more people to round out the sound. Thanks to Zillagord who I found this from and downloaded only because of its cover. Was the artist having a drug-filled afternoon or was there a list of requirements?

Song: "Eulogy" Ah, what the hell... I'm at mercy of the random/shuffle function. Some things I remember about this song in the early days: - I was in the car with my friends, and one of them complained that the song's intro before there were actual lyrics was too long (over two minutes). Another guy in the car yelled at him and gave him a nasty look. Always thought that was pretty funny... - It's everyone's favorite pre-Lateralus Tool song, or at least among people I have known that weren't trying to impress me. - Supposedly this is about Kurt Cobain? Or one of those guys... Likely just a rumor. - Instead of "like I cared at all", I thought the lyric was "like a cannonball" up until I found toolshed.down.net. I have great listening skills. - I saw a laser light show where they played this song to some graphic laser stuff. It was one of the best laser songs I'd seen, if not THE best. - One of my ex's called himself "Eulogy" for a while. He had angst. - "Not all martyrs see divinity, but at least you tried" goes through my head no less than once a week. It used to be a common statement I would tell my cat for no reason. I also called her "my lamb and martyr", but that's another song. Lately, I tend to avoid this song when it crosses my path... I've heard it enough times to not need to hear it anymore. It's nice to reflect once in a while, though.

Song: "Got 2 Let U" I've listened to this song quite a bit in recent months. It's a nice, simple song - weird but comfortable. I think I got this album about two and a half years back because of a sharing community, which would make it one of the rare decent finds from the lady masses. I sing to myself about how I'm going to forgive myself for letting me down because I'm so pretty, too.

Song: "Gods, Frauds, Neo-Cons And Demagogues" This album seemed to have a lot of hype around it. It sounds pretty close to a lot of stoner rock and lighter-end doom... It just has a little extra something do it, or possibly something less. I think, for that reason, I'm a little lost. I like the drum-heavy title track even though the first moments of the song are misleading... so maybe it'll grow over time. Now this song is much more comfortable and familiar to my style. Bass. And a slow decline.

Song: "Reflection" I remember saying, outloud, to a friend of mine that this song was the best song, ever. I was sincere at that moment, and continued to feel that way for a while. I grew up and the song lost its relevancy (the "message" hasn't been lost even though I'm sure some of you might find that ironic). I don't return to it often because of the 11 minutes and the fact that the song is best enjoyed in context of the album when one is in a particular mood/mindset. This song has emotional heaviness, but I prefer a different sort of sound now that eight years have passed... and there is no best song, ever, despite what I may say once in a while. In thinking about it, perhaps this is the quintessential Tool song... because who else likes Tool but people who "must crucify the ego"? Seriously, who's met a humble Tool fan? Anyway, day-after, this song sounds really nice.

Song: "Criminal" Today, I wake up and need to stay away from the heavy rock/metal until my health and hearing has equalized. I have no idea how the hell I get so health-disturbed from these things sometimes. When this song came out, I was initially okay with it. It got old from overplay on both the radio and tv, and because I was in the writing/creative mood all of that year, it wore off so much that I started to re-write the lyrics for myself. For a while it was only "I'm feeling like a crack whore" but I felt I could do better, and wrote the song as holy as possible, changing key words and phrases so it would be a song about a girl being a drug addict. It was beautiful. Crack Girl Don't you tell me to deny it [CHORUS] Heaven help me for the way I am Help me but don't tell me to deny it Hey, [CHORUS] Lemme know the way [CHORUS] And since I posted that, I might as well post the other good song parody I did which is much, much funnier...
