A group on myspace is trying to make "doom" one of the categories of music on myspace. That's a nice idea and all, but I'm a bored and distracted individual. I started going through the people and bands that have joined this group looking for something to entertain me.

How 'bout some mini views?

Agent of the Morai. Like the first song, "Matthew Newsong". It's doom as you would expect. Overdone vocals, methinks.

Luvzya. Tried a few songs. Apparently drone. Apparently boring.

And Here I Lie. Listened to "At Rest". Production ok. Comes across as old, and apparently so, but don't know what's up with those drums. Black metal.

Abythos. LOL vocals. Was doing fine before the vocals, music's not bad.

Orpheus. Not good.

Ox/Ken. More drone? More better than the previous band. Sounds a little like Sunn.

Five Will Die. I'm not hearing their influences. They probably take more time to "view" that I'm going to give them.

Centrifuge. First stoner band so far, apparently playing SHOD and I recognize their name from... Sludge Swamp, I imagine? Heard too much of this over the last couple of years to really care. "Purge" seems okay if repetitive.

Elliotts Keep. Sounds familiar... I can't recall which band. Saint Vitus? Wait, they have Candlemass as a top friend...

Koloss. Weird, but interesting.

Dust. Not the Dust I've posted about. This sounds great in comparison to what I've been finding so far. Oh noes, the singer looks like my dad in that video.

Manlord. Friends with sheavy? Hard to hate them. These sound good, nice and warm.

Defeat. I'll give them for "Pit of Despair".

And moving away from this activity to just bands in general...

Anorexia Nervosa. Black metal. Lesson of the day: I hate classical instruments in metal.

Obviously I know who Behemoth is. I can't figure out what they're doing wrong that makes them not appealing at all, while all of the elements are there.

Azarath. It is christ scum or christs cum?

The Does. And hard to hate a girl band who knows who [enter bands here] are unless they're outright terrible. Still not keen on the vocals, though. Nice Cat is better...

I wonder if Holoscene has ever played at Holocene?

School of Seven Bells. Blonde Redhead fans perhaps? Actually not too bad, but far more relaxed that what I've posted about so far.

Starfucker. Been avoiding this for ages. Very pop besides accessibility.

Wooden Shjips. Know who they are, didn't know they were coming here. 60s-70s psych galore.

Eat Skull. See their name on calendars all of the time. And I am thoroughly unimpressed.

Yep. That's all I can handle. I've turned on my shitty re-recording of Ancient Age's live video song to cleanse my soul. Please, listen to it.
