Perhaps it's time to post this now.

This song is okay, and a couple others on this are alright, but... eh. I can't get into this album. It's taken me months just to post this song thanks to being all interested and finding out that I am not actually interested in what's going on here. Still, the song works... It's nummero uno on the album, and for good reason.

Both Dozer and Unida's songs on this split CD are great. Unida of course, but I'm not always interested in Dozer's material. Their songs here go down the path of stoner rock to a T - familiar, warm and rich in sound, and welcoming in nature. Those who have not been introduced to "stoner rock", especially coming from a modern radio or classic rock background, will find this album very, very rewarding.

As for the song, I think much of what I said about the album itself applies. Give it a listen over at last.fm.

I put this together for Sludge Swamp. The general requirements were that the tracks had to be familiar to the genres of stoner, sludgey hard rock, doom, and/or post-rock. As you can see, I have issues with rules, but I think I accomplished the general picture one would expect.

The title was originally "Sacrificial Lamb" until I started fucking with the tracklisting to be more melancholic than the title suggests. I was having a really fun time putting together a graphic for that. I'm going to save what I did and see if I can get a more appropriate set of songs (non-stoner, probably) to match the graphic(s) I put together. Perhaps this comp-making thing will become a habit...?

In any case, I highly recommend some of these songs. As I'm sure you know, some of these have made it to song posts here. "Oracle" by Sheavy definitely needs a post of its own.

Edit: Here's some astrolo-geekin' for ya. I organized this mix during a void of course moon, and it was posted on their site during a VOC moon. Fucking awesome.

Today's Dozer - "From Fire Fell". It's on their 2005 album, Through the Eyes of Heathens.

This song is just really good. Unfortunately, it's only a little over two and a half minutes long.

Since we're on the topic of stoner rock...

"Exoskeleton" by the band Dozer. You can hear the latter half of this epic song on their myspace. It's located on a recent tour split EP with the band Brain Police, and I'm sure you can find a copy of it on Dozer's website but I can't currently get it to work. I'll update this entry as soon as I find a link for it.
